DAY 01

Negombo

Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport at Negombo and greeted by West-Eastern Travels chauffeur guide and taken to our hotel in Negombo.

DAY 02

Negombo | Sigiriya

After breakfast visits the famous fish markets, being the busy hub of this fishing town. Negombo has a charm of its own with narrow streets and pretty Catholic Churches dotting the area.

We proceed to Sigiriya, cutting across inland through hamlets, kiosks selling ginger tea and Thabili (King Coconut water) and friendly smiling faces of the village folk

DAY 03

Sigiriya   |    Minneriya   |   Sigiriya

Early morning after breakfast, we visit Sigiriya. History, beauty, architecture, lush surroundings mingled into one. A world Heritage site (5th century AD), Sigiriya is an impressive rock fortress and a royal citadel of a king for 18 years.

Midday, we attend a cookery class with the local chef, learning how to cook typical Sri Lankan rice and curry. (Optional)

Late afternoon, we are ready for the jeep safari to Minneriya National Park it witnesses one of nature’s unique phenomena — ‘The Gathering’.

DAY 04

Sigiriya   |   Kandy

Check out this morning after breakfast and proceed towards Kandy. Along the way, we visit World Heritage Dambulla, known for its richly painted cave temples.

Visit a spice garden in Matale, to see many different types of spices Sri Lanka is famous for

Enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of the beautiful city of Kandy including visiting the famous TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH popularly known as the “Dalada Maligawa”.

Afternoon visit to the Gem Museum & Cultural show.

DAY 05

Kandy   |   Nuwara Eliya

Morning short tour of the environs, including a drive around the lake, Kandy market and curio and jewellery shops to pick up pieces of unique style and beauty. The visit to Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya was rewarding as it is believed to be one of the best in Asia.

We board a train for a scenic journey from Kandy to Nanu Oya (3 1/2 hours). This is considered one of the best train journeys in the world. (Optional)

DAY 06

Kandy   |   Nuwara Eliya

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning we explore Kandy on a brief panoramic tour of the city via the upper lake drive, stopping at the market square featuring the famous Batik and Gem stores including a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Thereafter we depart Kandy and proceed towards Nuwara Eliya visiting a Tea plantation / Factory to have an insight into the local tea manufacturing process including the daily routine of local workers/ Tea pluckers.

DAY 07

Nuwara Eliya   |   Udawalawe   |   Yala

Breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast, we check out and proceed to Yala. En-route visit Udawalawe National Park, its famous for Elephant population. The ‘Eth Athuru Sevana’  (Elephant Transit Home)

Later afternoon check into the hotel.

DAY 08

Yala

An exciting day dawns, Morning 06.00 am. – At 09.00 am we are on a Safari. Yala has beautiful terrain, rocky boulders, scrub jungle, streams, water holes, lush green patches leading to the East coast. We encounter elephants, spotted Deer, Sambhur, bears and innumerable varieties of birds, among them, peacocks and the endemic Jungle Fowl.

DAY 09

Yala| Galle   |   Hikkaduwa

After breakfast we leave for Galle a 17h Century Dutch fortified city with an impressive Fort and a UNESCO heritage site, travelling along the coastline.

Overnight stay in Ahungalla/Hikkaduwa. 

 

DAY 10

Hikkaduwa

Famous for its long sandy beach, west-coast Hikkaduwa also boasts good waves for surfers, reefs for snorkelers and divers, plus sand-side hotels, restaurants, and bars. Add an island temple, tsunami museum, and turtle sanctuary, and you have one of Sri Lanka’s best beach-holiday haunts.

DAY 11

Hikkaduwa  |  Airport

Breakfast at the hotel and leave for Colombo. En-route visit  Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda and Amabalangoda famous for masks and masked dancing used in exorcism ceremonies and low country dancing.

Late afternoon small shopping tour in Colombo.

Proceed to the airport for the departure flight leaving Sri Lanka with beautiful memories
